A Smallows Home......Devotional

Passage:
Psalms 84:1-3 One of the toughest tasks a mother of young children faces in the challenge of finding a few minutes to spend with God each day. Our hearts resonate with the Psalmist's heart when he expresses how he yearns and faints for time with God.

Maybe finding time to spend with God isn't as complicated as we make it. The Psalmist goes on to tell us that the Swallow simlply builds her nest-where she can be with her young-near Gods alter.

We don't have to stop everything to find a quiet sot to be with God. Us Mother with young children can enjoy or make a lovley dwelling place of God by building their home near his alter everyday. I pray while folding the laundry, washing the morning dishes, and form of a housechore because thats what I mostly do during the day. There are times I put my headphones on or listen to the bible on my hone to get my daily dose of the bible fed into me. I sing songs from the previous Sunday service and before I know it even my little one is making in the words that best fits him.

If we build our house near God's alter, we won't have to move somewhere to be in his presence.

Worry.......NOT! DEVOTIONALS

You hear you children wake from their nap as you shift either another toddler over to your next hip or you have an arm load of laundry that you are trying to waddle over to the couch to fold but get bombarded with about 17 different questions from two very different mouths. The Husband if coming home in an hour dinner thought are still dancing through your head, You need to be somewhere in 2 hours you mentally flip through your closet in your mind, and you realize 98% of the items in your closet won't zip up.
Pressure knots at the base on your neck and then works its way to your templates for a major headache.

In Matthew 6:25, Jesus urges, "therefore I tell you DO NOT worry about your life, what you will eat, what you will drink, or about your body, what will you wear."
The word worry here literally means, "To be drawn in a different direction," to worry is to mentally divided. When you react to pressure with worry, it's like splitting your devotion to Jesus and sharing it with other Gods.
Worry invites you to jump from one happy afternoon of children busy with building blocks and playdoh to an attitude of "I'm ruined if anyone sees this place" ( I personally suffer alot from that)worry divides your thinking, begging you to share gods sole place of authority over your days with others.

You can keep your thinking focused without worry. You can ask yourself, "Will this matter in five years?" ( I have to tell myself in between boy fights and the famous "can i haves",will this matter in 5 minutes)
"Why do I care what they think of me?" And then YOU can LIVE today

My Tuesdays

This, folks, is how I do part of my morning on Tuesdays, once the kids are off to school, the house is put in order the laundry is spinning, I do my ad searches and bring out the coupon binder.

I never ever ever use a coupon unless or until the item is on sale, it rots my soul to think of paying full price for anything, and if I need something, that I don't have a coupon for, I buy the store brand name, this mostly happens only at Walmart.

Alas my other trick, is for example last week Thriftee had canned veggies 24/$10 their store name brand, you can go to Walmart and price match it with their store name brand.. Love it!!

Another thing if any of you frugal saving mamas are like me and have plans on doing a garden but its to darn cold to do now, but like the fresh fruits and veggies, I go to www.bountifulbaskets.org every Monday and get supply's there, its so awesome, check it out.

I have 3 ads with coupon sales to put up shortly so e back in a jif!

The "Kool"aide way to clean your dishwasher

Since I am all about being Frugal, I recieved this in an email from a friend, of a friend of a friend, I was utterly amazed at it I had to share, but not with out giving the credit to the cents able shoppen." Sometimes, what I keep in my house are packets of lemon Kool-Aid. They’re relatively inexpensive – when in a pinch, and out of juice, my kids will drink it.
It also functions as a dishwasher cleaner. Now I don’t use my dishwasher at all – in fact, I despise using that thing because I feel like it does a lousy job… but that could very well be my dishwasher.
Lemon Kool-Aid, on it’s own, works better than any other commercial dishwasher cleaner you’ll ever buy.
Pour it in the tray of the dishwasher and run an empty cycle. A FREE packet of Kool Aid has citric acid ~ the citric acid cleans lime deposits & iron stains – in fact, it’s the only flavor that works (so don’t buy anything else, stick with lemon)."

WalMart Price match with Frys

This is the Fry's ad, I always, always price match with Fry's when I go to WalMart. Some of the employees don't know their own price matching policies so my best suggestion is to go to number 18 cashier Glenda, she knows it like the back of her hand......and NO you DON"T need a flyer.

***I also do pricematching with Albertson's and Food City, when they have good deals, this week they didn't****

Salas Recipes from my kitchen blog to yours.

Popcorn Ball Recipe
8 cups of Pop Corn ( I, myself used the kettle corn, it was sooooo yummy)
2/3 cup of karo syrup
2/3 cups sugar
1/2 tsp. of salt
mix the last 3 ingredients together until sugar dissolves, and pour over popped popcorn.
Mix it all together let it cool for about 10-15 minutes and start forming into balls. I did put butter on my hands to prevent the popcorn to stick to me. Sometimes the kids just eat it right out of the bowl.
Another thing you can do is add peanuts or choclate morsels to the mix and lay it out on a cookie sheet to harden and cut them into pieces..........Big hit at the Salas House..... This is made atleast once or twice a week here.
Enjoy!!!!!!!!

It Takes Two!

Daily Devotionals Long ago one evening I was sitting at the kitchen table I heard a bumping noise. Two balloons that my son's had abandoned were hovering over the heat range, propelled by the gushes of warm air into a dance above the vent. Watching them it was clear that one balloon, alone, would have been blown away. But because there were two they stayed in place continuing to frolic.

In Song of Songs 5:16 the bride says of her husband, "This is my lover , this is my friend". In this simple phrase, she summarizes the two central elements of marriage: intimate love and friendship. For the marriage to be all that God intended for it to be, the two ingredients must work together.

How is your intimacy with your Husband? Do you take those few quiet moments(we don't have very many here either) after the kids are in bed, to celebrate your intimacy? What about your friendship with him? Do you turn to each other for an opinion, for a laugh, for companionship? Do you automatically think of him when you need a friend?

It literally takes two to tango. Two dancers. Two ingredients, Two souls. And from two, God makes one beautiful marriage.
