It Takes Two!

Daily Devotionals Long ago one evening I was sitting at the kitchen table I heard a bumping noise. Two balloons that my son's had abandoned were hovering over the heat range, propelled by the gushes of warm air into a dance above the vent. Watching them it was clear that one balloon, alone, would have been blown away. But because there were two they stayed in place continuing to frolic.

In Song of Songs 5:16 the bride says of her husband, "This is my lover , this is my friend". In this simple phrase, she summarizes the two central elements of marriage: intimate love and friendship. For the marriage to be all that God intended for it to be, the two ingredients must work together.

How is your intimacy with your Husband? Do you take those few quiet moments(we don't have very many here either) after the kids are in bed, to celebrate your intimacy? What about your friendship with him? Do you turn to each other for an opinion, for a laugh, for companionship? Do you automatically think of him when you need a friend?

It literally takes two to tango. Two dancers. Two ingredients, Two souls. And from two, God makes one beautiful marriage.
