Home made noodles..By Billie

Homemade Noodles

1 cup sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg, beaten
... 1-2 tbsp. water or milk

Mix together till the ball forms a smooth ball. I like my dough to be kind of soft so it's easy to roll so add more water or milk if it seems too stiff. Roll out to about 1/8" thickness. I use a pizza cutter to cut my noodles to the desired length and width, usually 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" long approximately.

When the noodles are all cut up, I toss them in the bowl and throw some more flour on top of them and toss them with my fingers to be sure every bit of the noodle is covered in flour.

I don't let my noodles set, I cook them as soon as my stock is boiling.

I cook mine with chicken that I've either cooked in the crock pot or boiled. When cooking my chicken I add onions, garlic and lemon pepper to season.

Make some mashed taters and serve with a veggie. YUM

Homemade Yogurt.....by Caroline

Homemade Yogurt
Put half a gallon of whole milk (that is NOT ultra-pasturized) in a crock pot on low for 2 1/2 hours, then unplug it and let it sit covered for 3 hours. After letting it sit, whisk in 1/2 cup plain yogurt. Then wrap the crockpot in a couple towels or a blanket and let sit for 8 hours. If it's too runny for your tastes, then you can put a coffee filter in a stainer over a bowl and let some of the whey drain off. The longer you let it drain, the firmer it will get. A couple of hours and you have a greek yogurt, which you can substitute for sour cream. Several hours and you have yogurt cheese, which is a good substitute for cream cheese in recipes

Cold Kicker Remedy: A Tried and True Recipe

Written by Meg Dickey, Contributing Writer
This remedy is one of the best for warding off colds, the flu, or any kind of general feeling of ickiness. Not only is it chock full of anti-viral and anti-bacterial goodness, but it's guaranteed to knock your socks off!
Ginger and cayenne are warming to your system, while onion, horseradish and garlic help to kill any bug that is attempting to assault your body. Sage and rosemary dry up any mucus that might be tempted to drip, and your body will benefit from the boost of minerals that apple cider vinegar provides. As scary as it sounds, it's actually quite tasty, too.

Here's my tried and true Cold Kicker recipe:

  • 1/4 c. ginger root, freshly grated
  • 1/4 c. onion, freshly chopped
  • 1/4 c. fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1/4 c. fresh sage leaves, chopped
  • 1/4 c. grated horseradish
  • 4 cloves of garlic (you can up it to 6, if you feel adventurous)
  • 2 Tbsp. ground cayenne pepper
  • organic apple cider vinegar to cover
  1. Combine all the ingredients in a quart size mason jar, and fill to the top, leaving 1 inch headspace.
  2. Shake daily for two to four weeks, then strain, squeezing out all the liquid.
  3. Heat gently over heat, and add 1/4 c. of honey, stirring to dissolve.
  4. Rebottle, and use as needed to kick any feeling of sick right out of you!
I usually use 2 tablespoons in a cup of hot water, and sip it as needed. I've also used it in chicken broth as well, to give an extra boost of nutrition when I haven't felt up to eating anything.

NO GRATE laundry soap!

I love this recipe... it is so easy that i had to share with my girls!! This is the most amazing one out of the ones ihave tried and i am SO pleased with it... and yes, it was a pinterest find!!!!

3 Tablespoons Borax
3 Tablespoons Washing Soda
2 Tablespoons Dawn Dish soap
Put these ingredients in a one gallon jug. Pour 4 cups boiling water into the jug. Swirl until ingredients are dissolved in the liquid. Let liquid cool. Then fill almost to the top with cold water. The bubbles will overflow out of the bottle.
I love this because you can pick an awesome scent with the Dawn dish soap. This dish soap works the best because it gets grease out. :o)

Home made tote bag...via pinterest... a frugal way

i have seen these all over pinterest and it sparked my interest to do the same for my own. I just love them for my fruits and veggieshen we go on a picinic or when i m carrying things over to my sisters house. Here are the brillent frugal (because its made from an old tshirt) instructions on how to make it...

1 Cut a large dome shape out of the body of the t-shirt.
#2 Sew around 3 (rounded) sides (I sewed a small seam and then when back over and zig-zagged the edge.)

#3 Mark cuts with WASHABLE pen/pencil.
#4 Snip slits with scissors or with rotary cutter. (The rotary cutter was a super slick way to do this. I got my cutter and the small cutting mat for less than $20 at Walmart or if you are really frugal/cheap like me then i used a razor blade and a cutting board.)
#5 Cut off top corners and an opening for the handle

#6 S T R E T C H the bag to open up the “vents” (and make it look ruffly and pretty! It will look
even more ruffly after being washed and dried.)

so if any of you frugal mamas make one of these bad boys share the news with the rest of us!!

Home made SHOUT spray

Homemade “Shout” Stain Pre-Treater
2/3 cups Dawn Dishwashing Liquid (I had Palmolive on hand, so that’s what I used)
2/3 cups ammonia
6 Tblsp
baking soda
2 cups warm water
Mix everything together then use a funnel to pour into an old Shout bottle or other spray bottle.
To use: shake bottle then spray on stains as you normally would. I usually let mine “soak in” for a few minutes at least. Then launder as usual.

Home made protein bars

What You Need
10 scoops protein powder (the stuff from walmart is perfectly fine)
2-3 T honey
1/2 cup sliced almonds
3/4 cup oats
3 T all natural peanut butter
1/2 cup milk

How to Make It:
Stir it all together and pour into a glass baking dish (doesn't need to be pretty). Refrigerate for at least an hour, then slice with pizza cutter, wrap in parchment or foil and store in frig (because of the milk).

ENJOY!
